In the heart of Kenya, Peterz Model emerged from a tapestry of trials that would break most souls. This is his roadmap to reclaiming your mind.
From a poverty-stricken childhood in a grass-thatched house to jail time for chasing education, watchman duties, and rooftop homelessness, his story is an unfiltered epic of survival. Yet, through it all, he transformed his mental health into a superpower.
The Roots of Struggle: A Childhood of Chaos
“We had a leaking grass-thatched house, no chairs, just us, God, and hope,” Peterz recalls. Polygamy and family battles made formal education a distant dream. He attended school only twice a week, spending the rest selling charcoal or facing officers. This early trauma planted seeds of anxiety, but he chose determination over despair. “Poverty can be killed in a clean way,” he asserts.
Education’s Thorny Path: Jail and Deferrals
Jailed as a teen just to go to school, Peterz endured harsh prison realities that sparked lifelong gut issues. High school took five years; university took six due to financial deferrals. Despite the depression that loomed from these delays, he reframed his path: “My mind has walked through deeper halls.”
Pro Tip: Read two books daily; one spiritual, one practical to build a foundation that no setback can destroy. Learn more at Books and Action.
Humble Hustles: Survival Grit
To fund his dreams, he worked as a watchman in Nairobi’s risky underbelly and a fisherman on Kibwogi Island. These roles bred isolation, but he used discipline as a mental anchor. He integrates bodyweight fitness even during the darkest times to release endorphins and foster internal discipline. Check out his Fitness and Wellness blog.
The Breaking Point: Robbery and Near-Death
2022 brought the ultimate test. Robbed and almost killed in Mombasa, Peterz lost his business and became homeless. Refusing pills, he healed naturally through sunlight workouts, fasting, and nutrition. This "reincarnation" via purpose discovery birthed The Outside Uni.
